The main purpose of the meeting was to start inputting data into TIS database developed in the framework of “Mneme” database in Humboldt University, Berlin. This database will contain valuable information on fortresses in all partner countries.

Prior to the meeting in Kaunas exact descriptions were compiled and later this information will be entered into the database. Partners regularly discuss the issues of intellectual property rights after the end of the project and other important legal aspects. For these reasons the data will only be accessible by project partners for the time being and later it will, hopefully, be available for public use on the internet.

Ms. J.Tietze from Humboldt University spent a week in Kaunas working with Lithuanian partners. TIS group members have arrived at a provisory agreement that Ms. J.Tietze is responsible for compiling all information in the new database and collecting information on the fortresses of German partners. Ms. G. Gudzinevičiūtė from the Institute of Architecture and Building of Kaunas University of Technology is responsible for collection and filing of information on Kaunas Fortress, Mr. W.Bien from Kostrzyn municipality is responsible for developing and administration of the new website www.bfr.pl and tourism column in TIS group. Mrs. I. Veliute from Military History Centre is responsible for compilation of material received from Polish partners and Kaunas Fortress and making the cooperation between partners more active.

The meeting saw a successful start of entering information into the new database. The project partners will have the possibility to acquaint with this information and hopefully will cooperate in compiling and registering new information.
