4-th Network Meeting - Berlin Spandau - December, 2006 Print E-mail
4th Network- Meeting
4th - 6th December 2006 Berlin, Citadel Spandau

December 4-th through 6-th 2006 the Spandau Citadel Fortress in Berlin hosted the meeting of INTERREG III B “Baltic Fort Route” (BFR) partners from Lithuania, Poland and Germany. Partners of currently implemented projects had the opportunity to acquaint with the results of a similar project “European Route of Brick Gothic” implemented earlier in the Baltic Sea region. Mr. Ch. Pienkoss gave a short overview of the project and opportunities of project continuation, talked about the successful progress of the project and possible expansion in the end. The meeting was joined by guests from Luxemburg, Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg, Ukraine and other places. All partners were given the floor to share their ideas about new projects and new partners.

Military History Centre of Kaunas Vytautas Magnus University enjoys a growing significance in BFR project because of the plans to set up an international documentation and inventory centre. After the premises of the Military History Centre are expanded, everybody interested in fortress and warship history, architecture and nature will have access to the required information, video material and useful contacts enabling to carry out research of fortresses of Lithuania and other countries. Possibilities to continue courses for students of Kaunas University of Technology and give lectures in I. Kant State University in Kaliningrad in 2007 were also discussed.
